About Our Founder
In 1987, Robert McClellan had a vision which developed into a passion for the plastics industry. R & L Plastics was created. After expanding R & L Plastics for eleven years, it was sold. Robert had the opportunity to expand his management skills by joining Creative Homeworks in 1998 to learn the countertop industry. A few years later, the owners of Creative Homeworks had the opportunity to sell their company to Wilsonart Industries based out of Texas. Robert became the plant manager of this large countertop production facility. His operational skills and management talent at Wilsonart Custom Products led him to again fulfill his desire to have his own company. Tropica Design was created in 2006.
Robert’s vision is to provide a work environment where employees desire to have other talented friends join the company. Employees that have passion for their job create products that provide customer satisfaction. Tropica Design Industries is a vision that has become a reality.
